ELLE

Wow wow wow I have just bought the October 2008 issue of Elle and flicked through...

WOW WOW WOW AGAIN!

This issue looks amazing, I haven't had a good read of it yet but I shall have a thorough look tonight and post my findings tomorrow :D

Also, (random thoughts while watching the hills) does anyone else think its rather funny how they're playing a song called "bad girl" in the background when Stephanie goes on a date with doug behind lauren's back in season 4 episode 7? Ha.

London Fashion Weekend

This weekend I'm going to London to visit friends and family and lucky for me, London fashion weekend is from thursday - sunday. So I'm going on Saturday. It's basically a big event where designers sell their stuff at trade show prices to the public, in the grounds of The Natural History Museum...I can't wait!! Also, there's goodie bags! But I have one problem...no idea what to wear! I have to pass for 18 by the way, but I'm not too worried about that because as long as I look mature and sophistique hopefully it shall be ok :) So any ideas for outfits? Just general ideas. Here's the website: http://www.londonfashionweekend.co.uk/ I will defoz be taking pictures so I shall post them after :)

Playing dress-up

This is actually a lace skirt, but it's a weird length so I thought I'd try it as a top, and it worked! I think it looks cute with the flower in my hair.

This is a gym class heroes t-shirt i got from their gig, they have such awesome graphics, I think this looks really funky with the tights and jacket.

This is actually a vest top which I've pulled down and tucked into a belt so it looks like a skirt.

I got this skirt/top from a market in Israel.

Polyvoring

So I thought it was about time I posted some of my outfits from my polyvore account!

MGMT - pieces of what

You should probably know that MGMT are one of my favourite bands, but most people just know their big hits like time to pretend and kids. My favourite song of theirs is Pieces of what, it just always chills me out. It's so underated, it deserves more credit than it's given! So check it out :)

Kesh

She's funky, she's fresh, she's KESH! Kesh is a 21 year old British Designer/DJ. She started out with designing T-shirts and she was discovered after meeting Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco and handing out samples of her T-shirts. She's recently held her first fashion show. It's impossible to describe her style, it's just so crazy! Acidic colours, Gold blinggg, nu rave, indie, funk, disco, electronic are some words that come to mind.

She's a complete cheapskate - and that's why I love her! In all her interviews she's like "oh yea, this was £1." Nearly everything she wears is customized or made by herself, I saw an awesome video in which she made a dress in 30 minutes for an interview, and it was gorgeous! She just makes it all look so easy. Type "kesh 20 minute dress" into google.

She also DJs in her spare time and at the moment she's travelling all around the world for her DJ-ing. Here's an interview with her, she seems so nice and down to earth!

London Fashion Week - My picks

Wow I'm having a colour rush! I love the mix of bright colours and graphic prints. The belts were fierce, I've never seen anything like them!

Christopher Kane is probably my favourite designer, if not, one of my favourites. He never disappoints, and this season was no different, I was blown away! He always comes up with a new vision/theme for each collection and although this one isn't my favourite of his, it's still got top marks from me :) I particulary love the dress on the right, c'est magnifique!

I'm embarassed to say that I haven't heard of Charles Anastase until now, and I'm so ashamed of it because this collection was incredible! I loved the translucent skirts teamed with floaty tops and leather jackets. I'm definitely gonna keep my eye on him ;)

This collection was so cute, so playful and funky. I loved the lizard thing she had going on and the tights were really original.

This collection seems somewhat similar to Charles Anastases'. Both used plenty of translucent fabrics, but Roksanda was more elegent evening type wear. I just love the layering of all the gorgeous fabrics, I found this collection very romantic yet there were aspects of gothicism.

Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party

The party I should have been at. Darn I wish I was there! The lucky rich kids got a sneak peek at Luella Bartley's new collection (which as you know I absolutely adore) and they danced to MGMT (a favourite band of mine!) - that would have been the ultimate party for me! All guests were young, hot and talented of course and they included Zac Efron, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Aly and Aj, Francis Bean Cobain, Emma Roberts and many more A-lists to be.
I shall leave you to gawp in envy at some pictures.

Luella Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection

It's official - I am in love with Luella Bartley. Her spring 2009 collection was just adorable! Ladylike and funky at the same time. She's packed so many of my favourite things into one collection - ruffles, beeds, pinstripes, smart jackets, bows and floral prints. I've always loved purple and orange together and it's about time that a designer based a collection on those colours.
Let's start with the skirts: she had some very nice sculpted skirts but I just love the tiered frilled ones. I loved the candy pinstriped trousers, I've noticed a trend emerging of patterned trousers teamed with contrasting patterned tops, House of Holland used this too with floral print trousers and polka dot tops. Other trends included uneven tiered ruffled dresses, heaps of beads, netted hats and little tweed jackets.
I loved how she combined ladylike elements with kitsch and retro accessories like giant bright bows as head accessories and the cute purple and orange shoes with a giant heart on the toe.
I think this collection is very ready-to-wear literally, there are many items that I would actually wear everyday, my birthday's coming up in a month...you never know! hehe.

Happy shopping ^^

Popped into the shops after school today to buy my mum's birthday present, she said she wanted a new lipstick. But instead of the crappy cheap one I got last year I decided to get her a proper present, so I got her a Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick. Honestly, I don't normally buy expensive make-up but I may start to! It's actually worth it with all the freebies and testers you get, the whole experience is just nicer than normal make-up shopping. They wrapped it up all prettily for free and gave me a tester mascara and one for my mum as well. It's not like a tester - it's practically a full sized mascara! I bought some new heels - black patent laced "shoe boots". I had some last year but I don't like them anymore and I need a new pair of edgy black heels to go with some occasions I have coming up - and they were only £12 from Primark! (rather broke at the moment). I also spotted some pretty corsage brooches which I think will look cute pinned onto blazers and cardigans etc. Here's just some random outfit shots from last weekend.

CIAO

Haha it feels so good to finally be here...blogging! I've been toying with the idea of creating a fashion blog for a while now, everyday I read other people's blogs and wish I could voice my opinion on fashion in the same way...and now I can! I'm not going to make any promises for this blog; I can't say I'll post everyday, but I will try to give it my all. Primarily I'm going to post about fashion - designer, high street, vintage, styling - everything really. But (yes I know I shouldn't start a sentence with but BUT who cares it's my blog I can do what I want now yay) I'm also going to post about other things like ME, art, culture, my findings on all sorts of random things. Sooo, let me introduce myself! My name is Shoshi (shortened from Shoshanna), I'm 15 and live in the UK. I hate defining my style because I'm a mix of nearly everything - bohemian, punk, romantic, indie, chic, retro and more. I have many favourite designers, but my top 5 are probably Christopher Kane, Luella, Vivienne Westwood, Erin Fetherston, Marc Jacobs. And of course the classics - Chanel & Dior. I'm an avid reader of Vogue and Nylon (when I can get my hands on it) and a compulsive shopper. I love love love music - the kills, MGMT, hot chip, kings of leon, the killers, digitalism, hadouken!, pendulum, the strokes and so much more. Well I won't bore you any longer with this stupid factfile so enjoy reading my random rants and comment please!
